Little known evidence for the supernatural origin of the Bible

Truly, The Bible is the most famous book in History- feared and hated by the unbelieving - cherished and loved by those who know that they have eternal life.
It has been attacked without success, burned, banned, torn and ridiculed only to have the attackers shamed when the evidence was shown to be for this masterpiece.

One of my favorite quotes summarises this point:
"Hammer away you hostile hands- your hammers break, God's anvil stands"

"The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. It's doctrines are holy, it's precepts are binding, it's histories are true, and it's decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practise it to be holy.
It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.
It is the traveller's map, the pilgrims staff, the pilots compass, the soldiers sword, and the Christian's charter.
Here Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed.
Christ is it's main subject, our good the design, and the glory of God it's end.
It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth,a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure.
It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgement, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents."

Indeed, the Bible is an indestructable book, and I shall attempt to show you with but a few examples why so many, from the simple to intellectual geniuses have concluded that this is The Word of God.

The luckiest guesses in the universe?
-Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."These 10 words describe the fact which was only realised in the 20th century that space time and matter had a beginning..until then it was thought that the universe had always existed from eternity.

-Again in verses like 1Timothy 1:9 and Titus 1:2 we read that time had a beginning which was corobborated only in the 1960's and 70's by astrophysicists like Stephen Hawking.

In Job 26:10 we read:
"He has inscribed a circle on the surface of the waters At the boundary of light and darkness."
Do you realise what this is saying? what shape must one have in order for the boundries of light and dark to take on a circular shape? A sphere. -The Bible taught a spherical earth thousands of years before it was 'discovered'.

Another example is when Christopher Columbus before he set off on his mission quoted Isaiah 40:21-22 to prove that the world was round:

"Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
Has it not been told you from the beginning?
Have you not understood since the earth was founded?
He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers."

the word 'circle' here in Hebrew is 'chuwg' which literally means 'sphere'- Columbus apparently knew this- and he proved that the Bible is correct- yet many are ignorant of this and even state that the Bible teaches a 'flat earth'- another unfortunate assumption from those who would listen to those who have at the very most only given the Bible a cursory glance and with presuppositions of error.

-Ecclesiastes 1:6-7, “The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course. All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again. King Solomon, writing approximately around 400BC speaks of global wind currents and the earth's water cycle. “The phrase, 'the wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course' is an accurate description of the circular flow of air around the earth, called the 'jet stream,'(also in Isaiah 40:12) This is only a recent understanding of scientists.

-Around 1800 BC in Job 38: 19 we learn that light travels as opposed to it travelling instantanously as it was supposed until the 1600's

-Stars produce sound waves (Job 38:7)

-Some stars are bound in clusters. (Job 38:31)

-The moon has no light of it's own (25:5)

-The Earth used to be originally one large landmass (Genesis 1:9; 10:2, Deuteronomy 32:8)

-Of the 2nd law of Thermodynamics (entropy) we read:
"of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garnment, as a vesture thou shalt change them, and they shall be changed. But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end." (Psalm 102: 25-27, Matthew 24:35, Romans 8:21-22)

-At a time when people thought the earth was a disk resting on the back of animals or held by giant persons or suspended by ropes and chains, the Bible taught that what was only confirmed in modern times: "He stretchth out the North over the empty plane, and hangeth the earth upon nothing."

-8th day circumcision. Only in relatively recent history have doctors 'discovered' why it is best to perform circumcision on ONLY the 8th day and not the 7th or 9th...because only on the 8th day is there a vitamin K and prothombium surge in the babys blood which means less pain and less bleeding and a better healing process.

-Until relatively recently is was also commonly believed that the ocean floors were smooth- yet once again if the people had believed the Bible there would be no surprise. (eg Jonah 2:3-6)

-Another assumption was that apart from tides, people thought that oceans were are still as lakes- without current- until the 1800's when Matt Fontaine Manry 'discovered' 'rivers' in the oceans- Interestingly they were only discovered because Maury decided to take Psalm 8:8 literally:
"The fowl of the air and the fish of the sea and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas."

-Yet another fairly recent discovery was that of 'sea springs'- which were already spoken of in Job 38:16 and Proverbs 8: 28

-The Evaporation and Condensation cycle in verse 7

-The Black Plague which was destroyed in the great fire of 1666 claimed many victims unnecessarily if only they had cleaned themselves under RUNNING water- as the Israelites did as instructed in Leviticus 15:13

-D.N.A. and Chromosomes spoken of in Isaiah 66:44 and quoted by Jesus in Mark 9: 44.."for their worm shall not die and their fire is not quenched"
The word for worm here in greek is 'skolakes'- which in this context is refering to human flesh and not ordinary worms..

-The book of Job is the oldest book in the Bible (during the so called bronze age) and yet many of the 'discoveries' of science were ironically already listed in this book as you may have already noticed..another is in Job 20:24 "He shall flee from the iron weapon, [and] the bow of steel shall strike him through."
Note that he mentions weapons made of iron in the bronze age..furthermore..steel was only 'invented' in 1859!

-Throughout history skeptics used this passage to criticize the validity of the Bible :
"And they they of the people and kindreds and tongues and tongues and nations shall see thir dead bodoes three days and a half, and not suffer their dead bodoes to be put in the graves. And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the face of the earth" (Revelation 11: 9-11) how could the whole world see two dead bodies for 3 1/2 days?- then television was invented.

-Dinosaurs described in Job 40:15-19:
"Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
Lo now, his strength is is his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his
stones are wrapped together.
His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.
He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him
can make his sword to approach unto him."
Some people try and say this was a Hippopotimus or elephant dispite that the descriptions contrast..an elephant does not have a tail like a cedar tree.
and Job 41: 1, 19-21
"Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord [which] thou lettest down? ...Out of his mouth go burning lamps, [and] sparks of fire leap out.
Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as [out] of a seething pot or caldron.
His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth. "

This is hardly a likeness to a crocodile as some would try to convince us.
In fact there have been found dinosaur fossils with dual cavities in their skulls that have been thought to be used for mixing chemicals like the bombadier beetle of today...the basis for the "fire" breathing dragon legends- remember that the name dinosaur (terrible lizard) was only first used in recent history.

-Psalm 19:6- (speaking of the sun) "Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat." until relatively recently this was used against the Bible by critics because obviously the sun does not go around the earth..until it was found out that this passage speaks of the sun going in rotation around the milky way galaxy!

-Psalm 139:16 "thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect (Hebrew Golem, an embryo or fetus) And in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, WHEN AS YET THERE WAS NONE OF THEM."
This shows that David, thanks to the wisdom God gave him, knew that a fetus starts out as a ball of cells, without recogniseable limbs, and that they do not develop until later.

It isn't just that the Bible proves itself with it's accuracy in science and medicine- but also that it contains NONE of the errors that were commonly held at the time and even up to modern times.
It is a fact that none of the religions and no other 'holy' book is able to make the claim of 100% accuracy.
Are these just lucky guesses? or are you now convinced that there is an vastly superior mind behind the Bible- just as Christians have said all along.
Also, what are people today saying that we shouldn't take the Bible too literally on? 6 day creation?- 6,000 to 10,000 year history? ..how long until science 'discovers' that the Bible was correct in these areas too?

Bible "Contradictions" refuted

More evidence of supernatural design:
As one reads through the Bible, there are many parts they would automatically skip over because they do not seem relevant or all that interesting..one example would be the genealogies..yet there is something truly amazing in the very first genealogy (if there are any more- I would truly like to know) in Genesis 5:
It is basically a list of ten names- from Adam to Noah..but what we read is a transliteration from the original Hebrew..but what do they read in English?

Adams name means 'man'- Him being the first man makes that straightforward.

Adams son was named Seth which means "appointed" - as Eve said "For God hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew"

Seths son was named Enosh which means "mortal" "Frail" or "miserable"- it is from the root word 'anash' which means 'uncurable'

Enoshes son was called Kenan which can mean "sorrow"

Kenans som was Mahalalel which means
"Blessed/praise God"

Mahalalels son was named Jared from the verb 'yaradh' meaning "descent" or "shall come down"

Jareds son was Enoch which means "teaching"

Enochs son was Methuselah whose name comes from the root 'muth'- "death" and'shalach'-"to bring"

Methuselahs was the father of Lamech whose name is still rooted in our english word "lament" - and it suggests despairing.

And Lamech is the father of Noah- which means "rest" or comfort" as it is derived from the word 'nacham'- 'to bring relief'

Now if we read those names again after that transliteration:

"Man [is] appointed mortal sorrow; [but] the blessed God shall come down teaching [that] his death shall bring [the] despairing rest."

This is the summary of Gods plan- the gospel- hidden in a geneology in Genesis...an astronomical co-incidence? or further evidence that there is the God.
